I have a 95 5.8 Bronco. I just changed to the bassani headers 3 days ago....after we installed them and fired it up it ran just fine, we only drive it probably 10-15 miles that day. Then next day i fire it up take off and when i come to a stop light it starts to shake just a bit like maybe it was missing. So i continue what I was doing that day, I couldnt feel anything when accelerating just at idle. Now today I go to start it back up and MAN!!!....it is just falling on its face at idle, when i accelerate it clears up for the most part but at idle it sucks......when I stick my head near the exhaust pipe it sounds like it is missing. Then when i shut it off and try and start it back up it really doesnt want to start with out the assistance of the throttle. Do you think that maybe with the headers the oxygen sensor told the computer to adjust due to what it was reading now that it is flowing better and it has fouled the O2 sensor?
I have made sure I havnt left any vacuum lines off and all the spark plug wires are on, remember it ran fine the first day which consisted of probably 10-15 miles.
i removed wires and plugs, like i said it ran just fine the first day but now is getting worse so it seems.
What are the symtoms of when an O2 sensor goes bad? Will the check engine light always come on if it goes bad? Im just not sure how it has just happened just like that. It just happened the day after I changed the headers, thats why im curious about the O2 sensor.
I would even check further up the wires then the boot. Mine did the same after header install. Turns out I melted some insulation off the wires on the new header tubes, and it was shorting out and missing.
Well im at work right now so when I get home I will make sure to go through all of the wires and check all the plugs just to be sure, you guys are probably right....(I HOPE).....you guys dont have any info on my O2 sensor idea?
Freak98...Shoot i havnt been on a sled in years, i miss it though I still order all of the slednecks and 2strokeColdSmoke Films to see what is going on in the sledding scence. Things are changing fast, we had cats before.....looks like Ski-doo is taking over with there new Rev platform.
Have you scanned for codes snowmobiler? If you had an O2 sensor issue, the truck would let you know it. It would take a while for the truck's codes to let you know if you just cracked a plug, or wire, or whatever else has been mentioned thus far.
