Due to emissions I had to replace the cats on my '86 Bronco. I took a y-pipe from an '88. Can anyone tell me where the air tube connects to? I can't see anything disconnected on my bronco behind the air pump.
THANKS!
That tube connects the outlet from the air pump and into the catalytic convertor. There should be an emissions diagram under your hood that tells you where everything goes.

The air tubes mount to the rear of the heads on the 86. You will need to remount them there to keep it emmisions leagal.
Air from air pump goes through some valves and t's.
There is a pipe connecting to the rear of the heads.
There is also a pipe leading to the cats.
On the factory setup ('86 302) the the pipe connects to the exhaust between the two cats.
The added air helps the second cat, but hurts the first cat. Aftermarket cats designed for air injection should have a connection on the cat for the pipe.

I see the pipe connecting the rear of the heads. the previous owner used a piece of heater hose connecting that pipe to the air valve behind the air pump. Should I "t" into that?
