straight 6 engine trouble
my 84 f150 with the straight 6 300 in it has been a awsome truck it has never let me down and has run great untill about a month ago when it startes stalling at ever stop sign ever time i took a turn. So I cranked up my idel a little it kept it from stalling but sucks the gas right down. But now it got worrse When i shut her down She will either back fire or mak that sound where it has to much back pressur. Will a basic tune up fix this or dose it sound like a bigger problem any advise will help
And by the way i took the electronic carb off and put a one barel carter carb on it

I am having a similar problem w/ my '85. It would sputter and sometimes stall when making turns, especially right turns, and also when stopping the slightest bit abruptly at a light. I turned up the curb idle and because the idle is higher, the truck will diesel when I shut it off. Also, it is still sputtering and sometimes stalling. It turns out that the problem, in my case, is electrical. I was moving the wiring around and when I moved that thick wire harness that goes into the firewall right by the valve cover, it started to sputter. This was happening when we were having our so-called monsoon storms and the humidity was higher than normal. Now that it is dry again, the truck has been behaving well. So, when things cool off here in AZ, I'll have to figure out exactly where the problem is and hopefully, repair it. I hate electrical stuff with cars. I was hoping it was just a defective fuel pump. Hope yours is a simple solution. Good luck.
