im replacing my tailgate, i bought one of those shells online and i went to take my old guts out and they were so rusted its not even worth reusing them. whre can i order them? i bought a new handle but the rest is prety bad
O'reilly's had the cables on hand, but I think he is referring to the latch linkage inside. I would have to say a yard for the linkage rods, but some of the aftermarket resto companies may have such if you feel you need it new, although I haven't experienced those rusting away myself.

I ordered a tailgate handle from advance auto. It wasn't the greatest, but worked. The metal rods should have be fine, but ??
I just renovated a tailgate that was given up on, had to hijack a latch from another tailgate my dad had laying around that wasn't reasonably salvageable, the linkage rods are just like the ones for the door latches. They can fail, but generally don't. If you have trouble that way you can likely find something from a yard. Those cheap latches are a bit to be desired, but if they work, what the hey?
The junk yard i went to when i was looking for used parts had a dented up red one and they wanted 100 for it, and didnt wanna part it! i bought a shell for that price, and i can spend like 40 on the linkages and have a new tailgate thats painted my color!

goto a u-pull-it. The local u-pull yard [around here] would probably charge you $10 for everything, and $1 to get in.
most full serv yards won't ever part anything unless it = $$$$
