A lot on vibrations in the fourms and I have read most of them. I was unable to find any on High Speed problems. My 02 f250 PSD with 285/75/16 tires has been problematic with shakes around 70 and up. On a nice flat road the truck produces a shake/vibration (rear)that gets bad then fades then come back and then fades. Kind of a hopping feeling, but at a fast rate. Had the tires balanced four times, then replaced the tires, then got the same problem with the new tires. Driving me crazy, I suppose it could be the tires again, just can't seem to nail it down.
I have the exact same problem, its been driving me nuts. I too tried balacing the tires and it didnt help, i think im going to try the u-joints on the rear drive shaft next.
Does the vibration kind of get worse then better and so on, almost like you can feel it coming and then it gets real bad then fades back to almost nothing? Mine does as I drive at a set speed. Let me know if the u-joints do it. What tires are you running?
I have a 2000 F-250 CC, SB 4x4 PSD that does exactly the same thing. I notice the vibration at 60mph and gets worse as I increase speed. I usually set my cruise at 74 on the highway, and it seems to be the worst there. Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem. Hopefully there is a cheap solution to this problem.
Driveshaft out of balance?
Bad carrier bearing?
U-Joints are pretty easy to check and not totally out of the question but I would lean towards a driveshaft.
Could be way out in left field though
Good luck
Mike
Well I plan to have Ford, I know a guy there, check the balance of the tires. If they are not the cause, I suspect they are, I guess I'll move on. The reason I dont think it is mechanical, is due to the inconsistancy of the vibration and the way it sort of comes in waves. Wouldn't the driveshaft give a constant vibration?

I'm going through this with mine too. Listed below is what I have done to my truck and the vibration is still there:
Replaced Two bent wheels
Replaced one out-of-round tire BFG A/T
Road Force Balance twice
Alignment
Driveshaft Ujoints replaced (all three, mine doesn't have carrier bearing)
Driveshaft professionally balanced
Almost forgot, rear rotors also where changed
My driveshaft had two bad ujoints (spalling) and had apparently thrown a weight somewhere down the road. While I had the rear driveshaft out I ran it for a while using only the front driveshaft with tcase locked in 4 high. The thing still vibrated. I'm beginning to think that I've either got a Traction-Lok problem or some other type of problem in the rear differential. My truck is as smooth as silk up until 70, at 70MPH a slight roar is heard from the rear axle and gets worse until 75MPH where the noise and vibration temp. goes away. At 85MPH+ the roar never comes back but the vibration does.
You have not given me a lot of hope. Has anyone put the truck on jack stands and run it up to speed? With and without wheels to see if the vib is there or not?
ive been having a shake problem but not at as high speeds like you guys, mine is at 40-43 mph. if i go any faster or slower the shake goes away. i took the drive shaft off cause i was gonna change the ujoints, but the were fine, allthough i dont know what you guys mean by a joint spalling? maybe you could tell me. balanced my wheels today, and the shake is still there but has dies down considerably. so i am not sure what to do now, maybe i got a bad tire, but i dont want to get new ones i just got them this year in january.

Joint spalling is caused from lack of grease or water contamination.
I had a 00' with a bad vibration in the front end. Was much worse when 4x4 was engaged. Ended up being a bad wheel bearing. The garage replaced both front bearings and the front axle for me.

Had my d- shaft ballanced twice and all new U joints...No Help Still vibs my 03 F250
Just put a third set of tires on, this time I used Yokohama Geolandar AT +2. So far the vibration is gone at 70-75. These tires took much less weight to balance and seem to be a better tire. I'll let you know a few weeks from now.
check your carrier bearing I had to go with a one piece drive shaft no more problems.Just in case you are not familiar with the carrier bearing it is in between the two piece drive shaft and is good for vibrations when it is bad or loose GM has started putting a one piece aluminum drive shaft in their trucks because of the problems with this I hope ford starts doing that hope this helps.
