I have a 99 Explorer with 18500 miles on it. If I'm at a stop light my rpm's will surge up and down between 1000 and 500. Sometimes dipping below 500 and almost dying. I am in the process of putting a new fuel filter on. Has anyone else had this problem? I know I can take it to Ford and they should fix it but my dealing with the service guy in my area has not been good. Also, could it be just bad gas? I use the same gas station for my other car and haven't had problems but anything is possible. Thanks!
I also have the v6-SOHO Engine that does the same
dar thing. I'ts very irritaing cuase it shakes
the whole entire truck. Like a heavy vibration.
The dealer said that was just the engine. I'ts
a ford. what do you expect.. ;(
I had the same issue with mine and it continued for almost a year until it wasn't bearable... Have them look for intake manifold gasket leakage... That was the source of my problem... and after speaking to other service bay techs at a better known dealership, they stated that its a frequently replaced item.
