i am looking at a new F-150 S-crew 4x4 Loaded lariat with the 40/20/40 tan bench seat. i have been told by several people that the leather in these truck / this color are easily marked up / damage / discolored. What i mean by marked up is by jeans sliding back and forth getting in and out of the truck, and normal use, NOT ABUSING the seat. I am very easy on a truck and will baby this truck around just like every other truck i have owned.
I had an 01' F-150 Lariat S-cab and had this leather color and did not experience this issue with it. I just wanted to ask some people on that own the new 04' models and see what they have noticed... ANY help would be greatly apperciated!!
PSD the one thing I've found from my current truck is the buttons on my dockers can be bad . I've since removed them all from the back of my pants so it would stop marring the surface. I hope the replys to your post are postive though I really hate to have the problem on my new truck.
Ordered the King Ranch and know I will be happy with the heavier leather.
My Platinum had two tone leather and wore very well....BUT I climbed in one day with my cellphone on my belt and scraped the #$%^%$ out of the drivers seat back. DOH! Did not cut it open but the scrape was always visable and bothered me.
Other than that, I was pleased with the leather. Mine also had small perferations in the seat bottom and let air circulate. Very comfortable on long trips in shorts.
Not sure if the Lariate seats are done this way but if the are not I would consider having a professional apolsterer (sP?) do it to mine. Made a BIG difference in comfort.
I buy a lariet/leather F-250 every three years...keep it for 6 as it moves to my husband at year 3. I love leather and will continue to order it, but have been disappointed at the visable cracking ....and we treat it like a car...not abused at all. I , too, am hoping the King Ranch leather will hold up better. Mulelady
I have an '04 Lariat SCrew with the light tan leather. I've only had it three months so I can't comment regarding its durability. However, since the color is so light, it does show dirt fairly easily. Better plan on cleaning the seating surfaces and steering wheel with Lexol (or similiar) every other week!
I'm a little disappointed with this but I think that it's a fair trade-off considering how sharp the interior looks. I receive lots of compliments from folks that ride with me. And I love the truck's interior!
The back seat's surfaces are vinyl, so you only have to worry about the front seats. Hope this helps.
I too have the light colored leather. I only have $4K on it, but so far, so good. I almost worry more about the carpet more than the leather. I use the lexol products and they still seem as good as new, although that isn't saying much due to the low miles. I wouldn't recommend not going with it if you like the color. Ford really should offer it a little darker though. It is a truck after all.
That's why I opted for the black leather. Be a Ford tech and being dirty/greasy alot, my tan leather in my Superduty is always dirty, So I knew that the really light tan in the new F-150 would not look good after a week. Also My boss, the owner of the dealership, has light tan in his demo, and they (detail) has to clean it once a week when they wash it. And a good friend of mine that owns the Sonic here in town, has one and he did tell me that his blue jeans do rub off and turn the leather blue, He's also mad he didn't get black leather.
