Camber specifications
Camber specifications
Once again a question which is not covered by my Chilton manual: the camber! All it does is telling one what camber is, and that I know.
I did notice that one front wheel had a negative camber, and measured it: -2* the other side -1/2 *
I also found that there is a bit of play in the upper ball joint, but not too bad, guess about 1/32"
Cleaned off the top of the knuckle and found a bushing with the following marks: on one side:BPM, on the other side :E97A-CA+0-0
There is a tang on the bushing, held at 6 o'clock (=wheel side) by the pinchbolt.
There is also a slot at about 5 o'clock.
Nothing in the manual. Looked on the Napa site, and there are many adjusters available from +/- 1/2* to 3*
The real question is that there is no specification in the manual what the camber should be; anyone who could tell? It's an Econoline E150 '93.
Also, I realise, that by rotating such a bushing(it has an excentric bore, right?) one can adjust the camber, but will also adjust the caster, + or -, depending how the bushing is inserted. Or is my imagination not working correctly here?
In short, what is the right procedure, and which bushings should be ordered, and most important of all, where could I find the specifications.
Over here I got to help myself.......
Thanks,
Cor
