So I installed 7degree bushings and 4in coil springs on my 1967 f100 4x4, but now I think the track bar(connects the axle with the frame) is too short because the whole axle is like 3inches to the left of center. Did I do something wrong or is the track bar too short? Could I make or find a longer track bar or do I need to get a drop bracket for the track bar? Would a track bar from a factory highboy work? And does that drop bracket need to be equal to the amount lifted? Thanks all.
i have 4 inch lift coils on my 71 f-100 4x4 and have the same problem. I have seen adjustable trackbars out there but cant seem to find them right now. although most suspension lift companies out there do carry a 4 inch track bar drop bracket that will correct the geometry or angle of the track bar and thus will center the front rearend. I plan on going to a larger lift on my f-100 so I will be using the drop bracket and an adjustable track bar. If you cannot find an adjustable than a good shop should be able to build you a custom one easily. let me know what you find.
Superlift Suspensions offers an adjustible track bar for lifted '67-'72 F-100's. No drop bracket is necessary, unless you're lifting over 6" above stock (I believe). I'm using one currently and it has really stood up to some nose dives. It's threaded on one part which makes the adjustment easy and gives you a lot of adjustment potential. It comes black powercoated with polyurethane bushings and I think sells for around $100.00. You should have the Dana 44 in the front on the F-100. It's okay for moderate 4x4ing, good thing about it is the high pinion, but get at least a Dana 60 for real front end abuse. Of course that would require a custom Dana 60, as the '67-'72 F-250's came stock with a front leaf spring setup (not coils). You'd either have to modify the Dana 60 to accept the radius arms and coils of the F-100, or switch over to leaf springs in the front (probably cheaper and stronger). Then again, why not put a Rockwell military 2 1/2 ton up front and play Bigfoot on top of your neighbor's old Caprice. That's my plan.
Well, I just got off Superlift.com and they only show an adjustable track bar for newer Super Duties. Interesting. I just looked through my 'folder' to find the bill of sale. No dice. I know I bought it new via mail order over 7 years ago. I know for sure it's made by Superlift. I can take some digital photos of it if that helps. It has no markings/stampings that I could see. Black powder coating with yellow polyurethane bushings. The adjustable end is the one that mounts to the frame (higher mount). It's a threaded rod with a locknut to secure it. Both mounting points reuse the existing hardware. When you get it, don't freak out, as it comes with a slight bend it the bar. I can't remember if the stock one has one too. That's about the most I can give you on it. Let me know if you want the pictures. Perhaps you should investigate further by contacting Superlift directly. Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot. You guys are swell. The adjustable track bar would be really nice and payday is just around the corner! Thanks for the info. My truck thanks you as well.
