Being the proud owner of a recently-acquired '77 Ranchero GT, I began the search for parts to restore it. (It had spent at least the last 4 years behind the barn.) With some professional help I got the 460/C6 running and have logged a whopping 35 miles on it. After a few junk yards I stumbled on a '79 with an unknown kind of 351/? in pretty good condition. I propose to blend them into a 1978 Ford Ranchero! Over the past 12 years I unsystematically stuffed my garage with all kinds of "treasure". I have spent more than a month moving/trashing its contents and it is now ready for the big restoration.
Would appreciate any guidance/cautions/warnings, etc. that you might have. I am looking forward to some good times ahead - yes, bruised knuckles and frustration, for sure, but, ultimately, a satisfying experience.
Your help may smooth some of the bumps. Thanks.
I hope you have checked out the Ranchero forum. There are a lot of users down there that will be able to give you a lot of help. You probably are looking at a 351M but I don't know the Ranchero that well. Whatever Ford engine it is, there are forums for it here.
