1972 F100 still working on the wireing for the 77 steering column
No horn or turn signal lights work horn works but not at the
steering wheel.
Hi Bob
I am not great a wiring, but it sounds like you might have nicked a wire and it is grounding out.Thats how i check the gauges to see if they have failed or if the sending unit is no good by taking the wire off the sending unit and ground it out. Then if the gauge goes to full or in your case to hot, then the sending unit failed. If the gauge doesn't move its no good.Hope that help you! Oh that with the in the on position. As for your other problems i am not sure , i had a friend do that stuff for me.
I will be talking to you soon! dddk
with the gauge problem you should check the wiring and then check the sender incase it isn't working corectly. af far as the horn make sure that the steering shaft is grounded, i had the same issue with the horn and it turned out the shaft inside the column, the one the nut goes on that hold the steering wheel, wasn't making a good ground so i just grounded it like it was in the truck i pulled my column from, wire going from one side of the rag joint to the other. wiring's a tricky issue, haven't been able to get mine to work correctly either, when i do though i'll let you know how it goes together, currently only my right turn and brake light work but both fronts work.
