Piston slap

I am thinking to buy 2003 or 2002 f150 with 5.4l or 4.6l, Does anybody knows if the piston slap problem is fixed on these years models

It seems to be mainly the older ones that had problems and not even all that many of them. Ford still says that piston slap isn't cause for concern, it wont do any damage.

My 2002 FX4 with 5.4 liter has it. Ford TSB and dealer says it's only a "customer annoyance" issue. They won't do anything about it. It will cost me at resale time though.

Hi dmi and welcome to the forum

I agree about the resale problem. I've seen a couple that were loud on lots and they seemed to sit there quite a while

Apparently GM has the same problem too.
It would be nice if something could be done about it.
