A Few questiens about my engine

Hello
I'm a Danish Automechaich, and im sorry for the bad spelling
My Dad, my Brother an I have just bought an uset Ford F-150 Custom
I'ts an wery spcial car in Denmark, and can't find anything about it Anyware.

On the valve cover it says it is a 351M/400 EGR

It dont run right, as yet.
On the back of the inlet manifold sits an Vacuum valve? thats is disconnectet, Is it The EGR valve.
There is a soloniod valve that i conectet to the throttle arm. What is it supouse to do, raise RPM When gearbox is put in D?

wow then a hollander(HE HE) welcome to the board
i have a feeling your gonna have a harder time finding parts than us (i have been getting austrialian stuff), but then again ya mostlikely have the sunbean tiger, AC cobra, pantera and the ocasional F series, bronco or mustang to fuel the aftermarket

and what does it say under the 351m/400?

ya lucky it runs when i hooked up the EGR in on my 78 it wouldn't run or start
and if it sits right behind and below the carb thats sure is the EGR

and os for the dashpot/seliniod it might be for the AC so it doesn't stall when the AC loads the engine at idle (or maybe the auto)

That sounds like the anti-diesilng selonoid thats on the throttle arm. It's supposed to prevent run-on when you turn off the key. I'm not exactly sure how it works because mine never did and i didn't have any problems with run-on.

anti run on is usually on the carb and blocks the fuel if its on the throttle arm its to boost the idle or slow the decrease of idle drop (dashpot)

mounted on a bracket to pick up the idle under load in other words if the ac comes on while idling @ 650 rpm it kicks the throttle to higher rpm to keep it from stalling or under driving the compressor
also possibly a dashpot that is a leak down diaphram that will stop the throttle at a set point say 1200 rpm and slowly let it down to low idle

Thanks for the reply

under the 351m/400 it says:

Engine Displacements 5.8L (5.8L CID)

I have blockt the EGR and made sure that the inlet manifold don't leak.
now it runs on 7 Cylinders in steath 5 or 6 at idle, but on 8 when it raises in RPM.
Tommorow i will try to clean it with some gas addektiv.

What kind of fuel is it surpose to run on over there?

Wwhat kind of spark plugs are best for the engine
i think it's filed up with dirt, because the previous owner only used it for small trips 2 times a week, and no more then 30 miles pr. hour

yup you have a 351m
wow are you saying you have clyinders that are not firing thats not good and gas additive probally won't do anything ,but chevron's techtron is the only additive that i have seen proven to work
or is it just stumbling? if so it may just be varnish build up in the carb

it "should" run fine on 87/regular unleaaded but the octane rating might be different
just curious how much is gas over there?

spark plugs don't waste money if they are gonna fowl just get the cheap ones and gap them ~47 (americian not metric)

i would clean the tank good or drop it if it sat alot clean and coat it change the pick-up filter(just a sock)
you will likey go through a few filter(ones on the carb)

gee 2 short trips a week any frothing or milky look through the oil filler after a short hop

Set the gap to 1.1mm and use cheap Autolite or Motorcraft plugs.

yesterday i clean the engine with an addiktive. From Kent, you put a little in the oil when the engine is hot and running . You spray some down threw the carb while its running. It smokes a lote!! Late it run idle for 10-15 min. Then you stop it an change the oil and filter. It relly help!!

Is the octane 87?

In denmark we have:

92 Octane Unleaded Price: Around 8 Danish Kroner per liter
95 Octane Unleaded Price: Around 8.5 Danish Kroner per liter
95 Octane Leaded Price: Around 9 Danish Kroner per liter

100 US dolars = 614.5 Danish Kroner

Right behind the manifold is a round thing at the sise of a tennis ball whit an wire attatcht to Is it the oil Pressior unit

bronco of course
the kelly blue book on a 77 f150 is retail high 9,400(US dollar)
79 bronco retail high is 20,863 with my options

this isn't near the condition of mine (either of them) got alot of work to do to it

that flush is pretty much just kerosene gets the sludge out of the oil real out "trick"

was curious about the gas price its give or take 2.00 a gallon for the cheap and people whine of course i tell em to move to europe (some more than others)
did a conversion(using XE curency converter) about 4.93 a gallon over there then i will pay 2 as long as i can

oh ya it is a oilpresure sender perfect place to plug in a mechanical gage
the water temp is in the front just next to the water pump

Is it adveiseible to remove the EGR valve, and the Part between the manifold an the Carb?
Willit make the engine run better, or will it just course more trouble?

Is the stock oil sender unit so Crapy?
Because it seems like all swap it with an Mechanical gauge?

Thanks for all the help

If your oil pressure gauge works leave it alone. The mechanical gauges can cause massive oil leaks that will destroy the engine very quickly.

There are many other parts that are required to make the EGR valve operate properly. If yours are missing or inoperative it is probably best to remove the EGR and block off the EGR passage. When the EGR valve is removed it can cause a part throttle "ping". The fix for that is to recalibrate or adjust the vacuum advance.

Use the lowest octane gasoline available.
