if you never used a buffer before you could mess things up, get some practice on some junker first. and i dont know how good a buffer from pepboys could be.
if you use a good quality wax it will last a while.
i think the ntx is a cleaner wax, shouldn't use it too often on a new paint, i tried the gold class and didn't like it the paste seemed a little better though.
i like xymol wax.
Try www.zainobros.com this is the best polish and easist to put on that i have ever used. The shine is incredible, the more coats you put on the even better it looks.
I've always found with any wax if you want it to live you've got to put a second coat on about 2-3 weeks after the first.
I've got a couple coats of Nu Finish on mine now. Once a year car polish...yeah right.. I don't think any of it lasts more than 5-6 months..even with 2 coats..
I have used both Meguiars Classic Gold and their new NXT Generation Tech Wax. Both are really good, but I like the NXT better. It comes off really easy and leaves a shine that is awsome.
I would stay away from buffers, one slip and you will have big problems.
I bought my 10" orbiting buffer at Walmart and use it on the wife's Lincoln LS and my Screw. I use meguires paste gold and the soft wax. I wash the vehicle with Meguires car wash before waxing and I wax just about every time I wash every two to three weeks it seems like the shine gets deeper with the waxing. I would highly recommend Meguires products because of my personal usage. Also, I just traded a 93 van for my Screw and the paint on it was in excellent shape. (High Gloss) I used the buffer with the wax on it.
