Mine works on my 97. I got it on ebay, but Kragen auto parts carries the same one for about $100. It says Innova 3100 (obd2) and you can check their website at www.codereader.com. I have pulled code 1395 out of my truck.

Hows this OBD scanner Innova 3100 (equus) for the Powerstroke??
It says OBD II but can it pull the OBD I codes from the PSD computer..
Since i have a chip, i really dont need a Programmer/Code Reader. Just a
Code REader that will work.. I tried Autozone today and they came out with
the Same Actron scanner i have in my Tool box..No help from them, Plus the guy gave me a look , like i had no idea what i was talking about with OBD I with an OBD II connector etc.

Just curious, was the Actron OBD II scanner that you were using a CP-9145? Actron claims that it will work on the 7.3 PSD's. It even has a listing for that engine in the tool setup menu. But I'll be dambed if I can get it to work. It only comes back with "no codes returned". Even unpluged the MAP sensor to get a check engine light. Still "no codes returned". If anyone has one of these and has gotten it to work on a PowerStroke, let me know.
