1. I keep getting a code 31 which apparently is the EGR valve not opening up enough. I put on a brand new EGR recently with a new vacuum hose. (new EVR too.) Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to be causing my truck to run with very little power. I say this because when the check engine light comes on it feels like it can't pull it's own weight and when its off the truck runs much better.
2. I'm thinking I should just replace all the vacuum lines to make sure they're all good. I'd like to replace them with the original diameter lines. Does anyone know where to get them without going to the dealer ar junk yard? Also, does any engineer type know if the diameter will effect the amount of vacuum getting to the valves that the lines open?
have you replaced the egr tube going to the egr. you might also run some SeaFoam through the motor to help clean stuff up. the vacum lines i would just get some rubber ones. only place to get replacement hard lines is from ford and very spendy. now if you follow the electric plug that goes into the egr back to a module located on driver side of intake i believe its called the tab or tad sensors these could be whats causing the egr error.
yes, I replaced the tube going to the EGR. It didn't make much difference. I sucked in on the new tube to see if the EGR would raise up and it did without much effort at all so I know that tub is OK.
Found the problem! I thought I should go back and check everything out and I discovered that the new EGR valve I installed was stuck shut. I replaced it under warranty and the truck runs much better. It probably needs a tune up but at least I have more power and the hondas aren't passsing me by. I did ckeck the TAD and TAB and they are good. Thanks for your help.
