Help needed...Please

i have a e150 302 v8 and i think my evap canister purge solenoid is bad, when vac hose to throttle body connected car dies when disconnected runs good is ok to run car with vac hose disconnected from throttle body? need to go out of town thurday and want to make sure it is ok and are there any bad effects to doing so
