Has anyone heard of or tried this antivirus program? I've been using MacAfee, which I paid for, but this one was recommended to me, and it's much more thorough than MacAfee. My mom was also using MacAfee, and commented several times that it didn't seem to scan all her files. After installing Luke Filewalker, it scanned everything, and found a bug that MacAfee missed. It's free, here is a link if anyone wants to try it:

http://www.micro.com/antivirus.html

The company is in Germany, this is a link that will take you to a page where you can go to the company's website, or a mirror site for a faster download.

I haven't heard of that one. A computer guy at work said the free one from Grisoft is pretty good. I haven't tried it myself. http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

I use the free program from Grisoft, AVS. It gets the job done. In addition, I use Lavasoft's Adaware, and Spybot S&D. I also avoid using IE, since Netscape 7.1 has built-in popup blocking and is less targeted by hackers and their malware. Oh, and I use Eudora for e-mail instead of Outlook or OL Express.

I also use AdAware and Spybot, and wouldn't use IE on a bet. I was using Netscape, but after reading the thread on browsers a few months ago, I've been using Mozilla Firefox. It loads much quicker than Netscape, and has all the features I like. I use IncrediMail for my email. -TD

If you have fast internet access go to Windows update and download xp service pack 2. You have to find it manually. They tell you that it is only for server admin. but thats because it is universal instead of tailored to your computer(like 266MB) This has awesome security proticol features, not updates. actually changes the whole structure. built in pop up blocker and acceses controller for IE. And an advanced firewall program that beats the origional hands down. If You can't find it I can e-mail it to you or look it up again so you can get it yourself. Let me know. -Dave]

LilDuke, I read somewhere that there are about 50 programs and games that won't work with it.

So far so good with me. I play newer games and run spreadsheet and other programs. (c++, Ots DJ, Lab DJ, Ftracker, ect..) and have had no problems yet. THe only major thing I noticed is if you run a server or something simmilar that requires ports to be opened you have to set it up manually. Otherwise I haven't had any problems yet. The interface is a lot better and you have more options. I like this firewall better than the one on my belkin router. Just simpler to use. If you know of any programs that have trouble let me know, I am usually good at finding a solution. -Dave

I use ZoneAlarm Pro for my firewall, as well as the firewall on my D-link router, I never get any bugs. Is the firewall you're talking about only for IE? And is it better than ZoneAlarm? -TD
