Roseville, near sacramento. Got a manual trans which I have rebuilt, clutch, bearings, everying. But when it get hot sometimes it won't go into 1st, 2nd and sometime reverse unless you turn off the engine. The trans shop just went through and replaced everything again and still have the same problem.

Trans and what model?
Don is this a NP 435 box? If the inputs too tight the preload on the thrust needles will make you drag (grind) the box when it's hot. I've done a "feel" on the input shaft for years, about .004" end play, more and the taper input bearing will walk out of the race hence a loose sounding box. Whats your oil weight? I set my NP 435 box up to speed shift and sold it after 843,000 hard miles, it's still running at 555,000 miles. Carl..............o&o>.......................
