I have a '91 expl. with which I thought had a fuel problem I recently changed the plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, and put in some injecter cleaner, after all that it starts better but runs worse. I pulled the trouble codes and the fault in KOER was 112 which is the IAT sensor. I check in my Haynes manual to see what it does and sure enough it will effect the fuel system. The manual shows a good picture location for this and how to test but maybe I am lost but I cant find it anywhere that it shows, it is supposed to be on the duct common to the air cleaner near the MAF sensor, maybe one of you can maybe clue me in on the secret spot. Thanx.

That sensor is the air temperature sensor and it should be mounted on the upper intake manifold on the drivers side around the middle of the manifold. It has a connector that pulls off and can be removed with a wrench.

thank you for the answer I found it wight away and did a ohms check on it and it appeard to be ok. I installed a new one anyway and it really did not help. One other code that comes up in the memory faults is that the fuel pump circuit open pcm to motor. What my explorer is doing is when driving in overdrive and the tranmission kicks into high overdrive it really starts to run real bad like lack of power, fuel? I did a code check again last night and I think that the 112 reading for the IAT is acually 22 or the manifold baro/sensor which the manual gives no reference to at all. any words of wisdom would help. Thank you.
