1995 f-250 xlt, 351. I have a tach, speedo, fuel, oil press., water temp., batt. amp.
The oil pressure never moves from zero. and the water temp is burried to the max. These two are not working at all. What could be the problem with them.. Sending unit's ?? I haven't a clue.. I am new to this stuff.. I have to order my chilton's !!
What are my options for guages? I hate to add 2 exterier gauges when they exist already in the dash. Do I have to replace the whole instrament panel ??

the oil gauge is an idiot lite. a lot has been written on this. do a search, the sender is probably bad.
on the water switch try unhooking it and see if gauge goes to zero. again, i would do a search. also look in tech section.
In my opinion, neither one of those two gauges is worth a dang. They don't really tell you what's happening with your engine. I have aftermarket water and oil gauges mounted on the right side of the dash kind of blocking the radio, and they don't get in the way at all.
You can spend your time and money fixing them, but in the end, you're going to have two crappy gauges. The same amount of time and effort will get you real and accurate gauges.
If you get another instrument cluster you can remove the gauges, make a plate to fit over the face where the old gauges used to be, drill holes and install Autometer or other aftermarket gauges. You can cut the back of the donor cluster out to allow access to the back of the gauges and for them to fit, it is best if you can cut right through the face plate you make right out the back of the cluster. You can pull the pins out of the stock instrument cluster wire harness and solder wires on for your new gauges then plug the pins back into the stock connectors in case you ever want to go back to stock. On all your new wires you added you can put plug connectors on and then wire the other side of the plug connectors on your new instrument cluster for easy plug in install. You can still use the lights in the bottom of the cluster where the squares are for your blinkers, 4x4 light, CE light ect... You will have to add a couple warning lights (the ones on the face of the cluster) and label them on your face plate or have them silk screened on, examples: bright light indicator, brake light. If you have an automatic there are several kits under 100 dollars to add a gear selector indicator. If you do it right you can put the stock plexi-glass cover back on over your new gauges to keep the dust off. Autometer makes 2 speedo styles, electric and cable driven. The electric version is very cool because you can adjust for different tire sizes or gear changes you have made. You would have to cut a hole in the plexi-glass to gain access to the **** on the speedo. The entire job will cost around 700 dollars if you go with Speedo, Tach, gas, oil press, water temp and voltage. Of course you can also add a pillar pod for vac., trans. temp, clock, fuel pressure or whatever you want, you can also just put 2 gauges in the dash to allow room for the gear selector and put others in the pillar pod. The gear selector just won't fit anywhere on the gauge face plate if you go with Speedo, Tach and 4 smaller gauges but there are lots of other places to put it. It is a pretty big job but it is so cool when it is done! The Autometer Z series gauges match the stock look the best I think, they have all different styles and colors though. Good luck.
this might not be the problem, but my cousin had a sorry chevy and had the same problem. We replaced the fuse for the tach and it fixed the problem. Try that.
