Whistling Noise

My 1991 Econoline's motor is making a whistling noise. With the engine cover off it sounds like it is coming from the rear of the motor. It doesn't do it will idling, but under throttle it is pretty loud also when you turn the ignition off you can hear it. Anyone have any ideas what ir could be?

try to pinpoint the whistle with mechanics stethoscope(of a piece of heater hose)listen for the whistle as you move the hose around to different places on the engine, probally sucking thru a gasket
