when i turn the key to "run" , i dont hear any audible indication that the fuel pumps are working , every car i ever had with fuel injection i could hear it "pressurize the line?"
if its not supposed to make a sound ,where are the fuel pump fuse, relay , and cutoff switch respectively
what's the make, model, & year, for location purposes. is it runnig ok or what are your symptoms. sometimes i really have to listen closely to hear the fuel pump prime the system. it only comes on for a few seconds, 10-15 secs.
allright here goes, its a 1988 f-150 shortbed ,speed density stock 302,dual tanks. the truck sat for a year and a half , i put new headgaskets and intake manifold gaskets on it, had to cut the lines to get them off the fuel rail , didnt have a reemoval tool for the connectors ,yes , they are on the right nipples on the fuel rail
drained the tanks out , put new gas in , truck cranks and cranks and cranks, but no start, how long would it take for the lines to fill and pressurize???
plus , i dont hear any fuel pump noise at all , ive never had a fuel injected vehicle that i couldnt hear the pumps prime or pressurize in
so i need to check stuff like the fuses, relays , and all that
i found the fuel pump cutoff switch , its like its supposed to be, and the only fuse i can find in the fuse box is one that says external tank selector , or something to that effect.
so if you know where the fuse is or the relays , pleeeeeeeeeze help , im bout to go postal!!!!!!!!!!! not on you , the truck , lol
xltlariat87, you were exactly right man , i looked again this morning , and sure enough , the relay was there , and one of the wires had been chewed thru by the rat that infested my truck before i took ownership of it, i begrudgingly call him "big jumbo".
he has decimated the fuel injector harness, the battery cables, the fuel pump relay, the stereo wiring , all the vaccum lines, windshield wiper control wires, fuel pump cutoff switch wires, basically any wire he could get to , (you see, big jumbo was at least 12 inches long without the tail , i bothered him one morning going out to fix the truck he was sitting beside the upper intake manifold!!!lol he didnt even run , he just kinda shuffled off)
also , you know where i might happen across a shifter boot ??? big jumbo ate that too , and my driver side seat belt!!!!!!!!!!!
