I bought the dual master cylinder adapter bracket from E.C.I. for my 56F100 and it bolts up as it is designed but doesn't line up properly to the brake arm as per the photo
E.C.I. agreed to take it back but I'm wondering if my original mounting bracket is different than other 56's?? Anyone??
Don't want to order another bracket and find that it isn't a "bolt in" install either. By the way, I'm not bashing ECI at all. In fact, I also bought their disc brake adapter kit for my straight axle and it went in very smooth.
i had the same problem sorta with mine on my 55, i bought mine from cpp and i had to cut a bracket off and reweld it back on it was on an angle when it should have been straight. when i mocked up the brake pedal it looks like its to close to the frame, im just going to use a washer for a spacer and call it done. well good luck!
It would be very heplful to the forum if you were to tell us what ECI says regarding this. These problems are not unique to you as other members are using these suppliers of so called" bolt-on" parts. Perhaps you are missing the offset pin???????????. Perhaps you are missing the angle wedge that sits between the MC and the bracket????? Did the kit have a heim adjuster???????
PS: There are no bolt-on parts per se, only overpriced metal stampings that can be made to work. The bolt-on industry does however have really pretty color ads and know how to put the spin on the ads.
El cabron, as I said, I haven't had any troubles with ECI (yet). I called them, explained my concern. They said that the bracket has been installed on many 56's and were not sure why mine didn't line up. That said, this bracket is designed for both Cheby and Fords, so that should have raised a bit of suspision on my part when I bought it. Although these years trucks are very similar, I don't think one bracket will work for both.
My set up was completely stock when I took it apart. I have all the correct pieces and here is another angle to show what I'm talking about. This is from the front looking back.
As you can see, my brake pedal sits on the larger shaft and it does not come out far enough to even use a spacer to get it to line up. I was just trying to see if someone else can see if my bracket is different from their setup.
I realize many companies claim to have "bolt on" parts for our trucks and it is often far from the truth. ECI knows my concern and I feel they have repsonded accordingly. The only other bothersome thing is that I paid to have it shipped to me and now I have to pay to ship it back and they are only going to credit me for the part. That is part of the fun though of buying parts away from where you live.
I can also say though that it surpised me they (ECI) don't have e-mail. I offered to send them my photos to show them the problem and their reply was sorry we don't have e-mail. In todays world... No e-mail?????
Not long winded. No E-Mail is strange. Anyway, I just helped a friend put in a No Limit kit in his 56 using the stock bracket and pedal from my 56 as my truck is getting Corvette stuff and I did not need the OG stuff. So , we were real happy with the way the NL kit was made ,shipped and represented. I think is is a decent kit and it was obvious that it is for the 53-56 only. I understand that the guy at NL builds 56 's and came from Bob's F100's and I have talked to him a few times and he always takes the time and effort to make sure everything is cool. Perhaps your should call 909-386-7637 or www.nolimit.net Now THIS is long winded LOL
And I thought I had problems when I made my own bracked by cutting the original bracket and welding a plate to it to mount a dual master cylinder. At least the price was right. Of course, I had to take it out and re do it once because the angle was wrong.
Husker, that's what I was originally going to do but I had bought the disc brake adapter kit for my straight axle and it worked excellent soo..... I bought this as I thought it would be simpler. Best laid plans... I may decide to alter this bracket as the cost to ship back etc..
Kecky, if you're still thinking about a system to use that will be low cost and very easy to install that is a fast bolt-on with NO hassle, I've put 2 photos of a nice set up in my gallery. It took 20 minutes or so to install and has correct dimensions and angles . It can be bought as a kit or by itself from Tim Spicer in Denver. E.L.

No website but great service and help advice.
E.L. thanks for the info on that setup. I took a look in your gallery. Nice and clean. As I am in Vancouver, Canada the shipping tends to get a bit pricey if things don't work on these larger items. I sent back the bracket from ECI and am waiting for a reply/refund at this time.
There is a guy down the road from me that should be able to make me a bracket that will bolt to my original that will work. Should have went to see him first.
By the way.. what is the cost of the setup you used??
Kecky, Not sure about itemized, but the 2 piece adapter, the 7"booster and the Corvette master cyl all cost 299.00 us. no shipping of course. I plumbed and bled yesterday, works like magic. I would do this set up again compared to the others I've seen and tried. E.L.
