RPM at 60MPH with 95 351

I was wondering so we can dial in new gears for my truck what a rpm my truck should be at when running 60 mph. We lifted and put on large tires and are buying new gears. I would like to make sure I get my motor back into its stock range. Any ideas?

well how much lift and what size tires would help? since you have OD tranny you can run 4.10 or 4.56 with both 33's and 35's . you could even go 4.88 with a 35" tire and be a little higher then stock but that will give you great towing and 4x4 gearing for sure. remember you must change the front at the same time otherwise you cant use 4x4 till its done.
so i checked and running 4.56 + 35" tire at 60 mph will put your rpms at 1839
with 4.88 your looken at 1900+ in OD

Thanks I am running 35's now and I am needing new tires now also. I have been tossing around 35-37, and we are doing new gears in the next couple of weeks. I thought I would use 4.56 but wanted to make sure that would get me in the right RPM range. I cant find anyone that nows what rpm at 60mph should be around. If I understood your saying 1800-1900 is where I want to be.

RPM Calculator. This link will figure out your RPM. You just need to know the speed, tire size and gear ratio. This assumes you tranny output is 1:1. If you have overdrive you have to apply the overdrive to the rear gear ratio like .73 x 4.56 = 3.33.

if you go with the 37s, I would go with 5.13s if you have overdrive

I have found that between 2000 and 2500 work well at highway speeds with larger tires.
A lot goes into this equation, how much torque your engine makes at a specific rpm, how much tire weight you are hauling around, what the vehicle weigh's, towing weight if you tow, etc.
