Talking Just saying hi

Figured I'd join ya guys here. My son and I have started rebuilding my dad's 'ol '67 that he bought new. It's been sitting since '97, but was his daily driver up until then. (He passed away in 2000) The 'ol thing has some 467,xxx miles on the origional 352, but is pretty tired. We just put in a rebuilt steering box, and are getting ready to do the front brakes and king pins. We have another engine to drop in until we can rebuild the origonal engine. I have all the license tab registration slips since new, along with the purchase receipt somewhere in all his boxes of papers.
I was going to sell the thing after dad passed away, but my then 19 year old son insisted he wanted to keep it. So it'll be his daily driver soon as we get it back on the road. A friend of mine just happened to buy another '67 for the box and few random parts, then let me strip the hulk for parts(that's where we got the other engine and tranny). Got alot of good spare parts off of it. Doors, hood, trim, grill, heater controls, ect.

Oops! Guess I was supposed to post this up in the "Introductions" forum. My bad.

Awesome. I'm glad to hear you kept it in the family. These are the best trucks around. Good luck to you and your son during the rebuild. It's a good time to bond and reminince about your Dad. God bless.

Thanx for the encouragement. I look at the poor old truck, and just shake my head and wonder what we're getting into. From a distance, it's a decent, straight truck, save the fading and peeling paint. But up close it's getting a good case of cancer in all the usual places. But my son doesn't care. He's not planning on a complete restoration. He just wants to get it so it's safe and dependable to drive for now. Maybe later on we'll tackle a frame-off if we have the place and $$ on down the road.

If you're going to just rebuild the drum brakes, I'll tell you Autozone is a lot cheaper than NAPA on them.
