C-6 adjustment questions

I have a C-6 that seems to work OK when cold. It shifts solid into reverse but shifts soft into drive.
It will go through the gears OK when cold but has a slight delay going into 3rd when hot.
Doesn't feel like 3rds gear slips once engaged.
Wondering if this sounds like it would be band adjustment?
Don't know the history of the tranny. I just got the truck running recently.
I know the past owner replaced the tranny with a used one just before the timing chain went bad.
This is on a 1970 F-250 with a FE motor if that helps.
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Ken

Thanks for the response,
I found that out using the search engine after I posted.
Can't find any option to delete the post so I figured it would just fade away.

Check vacuum lines, modulator, TV cable or rod, sticking valves in valve body, 2-3 accumulator, intermediate servo, pressures. This is out of Haynes trans. overhaul book.

Sounds like the clutches are worn out.

Thanks for the reply's

I have a second C-6. I might just install it with the new 390 when it goes in and try it and rebuild my existing one and save it for when needed.

Thanks for all the info.
This is the second automatic that I have had. The first was a 727 and had no issues other than adjusting the kickdown.
I have always owned stick vehicles.
Thanks, Ken
