I was perusing the Ford Dealership in DeKalb, IL (on route 23, just north of I-88), and they only had 2 6L powerstrokes on the lot. Both were white, both were 4wd, both were extended cabs, but they had different options on them after that...
Anyhow, they were both parked behind the building, and the dashboard on the driver's side of both was ripped apart; the gauge cluster was hanging behind the steering wheel, the covers were taken off, etc. Just wondering what they're up to...
I'm not a 6 liter beater or anything...I'm just curious what's up with these 2 trucks. It seemed odd that they only had 2 of 'em, too...
Whoah!!! That is interesting! Now, I wonder what happens to all those kilometers on the odometers from Canada when new speedometers/odometers are installed?? Unless this is disclosed when the vehicle is sold here in the United States it seems on the surface to border or at least skirt on the fringes of fraudulent business practices. Maybe this is a common occurrence and is done all the time, I certainly don't know.
Interesting indeed.

If its a change from km to miles, lets give them the benefit of assuming honesty:
a) they were trucked down and no miles put on
b) the dealer will adjust the odo reading to what it is supposed to be, easy with the correct gadget
Not sure how they do it, but my F350 was brought down from Canada and dash switched at about 10K miles. History indicates the the miles were transferred to the new dash accurately. Then at around 14K miles I had a gas gage problem and they had to install yet another new dash/gage assy. Again, miles transferred over accurately. Can it be that odometer info is stored on main computer, not locally to the dash assy?

To replace the gas guage the change the entire dash?
My understanding is mileage info is stored in instrument cluster only. To change the digital readout, you need a NDS? tool (may have the abbreviation wrong) that can change the digits to whatever you want.
