ok well im thinking kim just gonna replace all the wireing in my '65 352...are there any kits out there that i can get?....any helpful hints on what i could eliminate when rewireing....im thinking about placing the voltage regulator closer to the battery or is there a way to totaly get rid of it?....im a total newbie when it comes to electrics and i know there is a thread for this but i figured id ask the guys that drive the same year as mine or similar thanks for the help in advance.
Sean, Why replace all the wiring? It is a tremendous headache to do so, and isn't worth it unless there was a serious wiring fire or something similar.
You will have several subsets of wiring to replace, and none of them will be exactly like the originals - and they can be different depending on your truck's options. You'll spend a lot of time making connectors fit.
Mine had some PO-caused messed up wiring issues under the dash, but I patiently re-traced them, and fixed them, and everything has worked fne for over 20 years.
You'll learn more about how your truck works and how to fix it if you trace what wiring is there. Although it may seem to take a long time, fixing it doesn't take as long as rewiring - unles of course the originals have been ripped out already and or burned up completely.
IMHO, of course.

There is a lot to be learned from chasing wires in a vehicle. The nice thing about these older trucks is that you don't have too many to really worry about, unlike the newer vehicles. If you must however spend a few hundred $$'s, here you go...
Replaced all the wire harnesses in 65 F100. Mr. Mustang inc.remanufacters the harnesses for the 64 thru 67 ford trucks, except for the dash harness. Same connectors and wire color codes. Can purchase only the harnesses you need. Depending upon which harness, run between $50, and $100. They do not list them in the online catalog, have to call to order.
My reasoning for asking if I should replace all the wires is that I don't know crap about wiring and there's a bad ground somewhere. A friend of mine came over that knows a little bit about electrical stuff. I have nothing to either of my harnesses so he hooked a positive wire to ignition somehow, not sure what exactly he did, but he got power to my ignition. As soon as he hooked the ignition up it shorted out.......We did this a few times and I have a lot of spliced wires and few loose wires here and there. Not too sure where to start I just figured I'd start over....
