i must have missed something here, are'nt 272/292/312 all just boat anchors?, maybe that's why the old girls only had single speed wipers, with all that power (HA)the rain should be blown off.
why is it that when some get on in years and need glass's, they always get rose coloured ones. these old girls are not weapons of mass distruction.

AWWWW Scrape

You of all people putting down the mighty Y blocks and dissing our trucks and I look at your gallery and find.........an English front end? A Jag front and rear suspension? Oh say it ain't so ! Not even using American parts? Oh the shame of it all.

I'm thinking you might be younger than most on this forum. The whole idea of my truck is not to go flying down the road, hurtling around curves, loaded to the top of the bed. I have a new truck for that crap. My truck is original(yep it may be a piece of crap now but 2 years from now ?) It's only duty is to take me out on the road and to let me motor at a speed I deem sufficient (usually less than 55), let me experience a touch of the past and to let it evoke memories of a time gone past to all who see it! It's like a piece of art by a master painter, a Mona Lisa if you will, not an Andy Warhol. It's a home cooked meal with home made biscuits versus a TV dinner.

It's music you can actually listen to and sing versus rap crap music. It's a simpler way of life, a road less traveled, a stop to smell the roses, hear the music, relive the past.

While I have no issue with those who have decided to alter their truck, mine is perfect for me....old, a bit slow, rusty in some places but over 50 and still answering the starter and coming back home again.

Nothing personal but I could not let the boat anchor go unchallenged. It's just different ways to do things. No one is right so be kind of easy stepping on us stocker's toes.

David, I assume a bit of sarcasm there, but here is a serious response; there are FE bellhousing for the F-100 for both standard (T-18) and automatic (FMX) transmissions. The original design of the frame will benefit from the use of this type of bellhousing. I don't know, but I suspect that there are narrow top-loader (T-85, T-86) bellhousings, too.

1. I'm eighteen.
2. Questions are traditionally concluded with question marks.

hey bubba, point taken, but, even home cooked meals don't always taste the best and cookies are often burnt on the bottom.
one good by-product of those that retain an original vehicle is that when u are finnished with it, a rodder has'nt got to go looking for trim peices.
besides if we all liked thin girls, many would have sore wrists.

If you took a V8 out of the truck, the original radiator can be set up to work with a mildly built 390. You'll want to have the radiator cleaned and pressure tested. I'm sure you know the rest; 15 lb. pressure cap, coolant degas/overflow tank, fan shroud. Use a low-friction, high-temp oil like Mobil1. Use a thermostat no colder than 180, preferrably 195 (less friction).

I have a replacement rubber sealing gasket to seal the hood to the grille. It prevents air from flowing up under the hood, and forces more air through the radiator. If you can locate a good fan clutch for the engine, that helps, too.

Good luck.
