Is there any adjustment in the cab?(53-56)

I mounted the cab on the frame with new cup shaped bushings on the front and the stock arms on the back. I then mounted the front end minus the hood and fenders. I will be using a forward tilt hood. I can't get the front radiator support square to the firewall. With everything bolted together, the rad. support has very little movement front to back. Will the cab move side to side to help this problem? It seems real happy right where it's at.

I don't think there is enough slop in those mounts to fix what you are describing I think I would start with the core support itself, maybe elongate the holes a bit. Hard to say without seeing it, how much adjustment we talking about here

Thinking back on my 54, I believe that there were two locations for the rad support. It sounds like you may be in the wrong hole. I think there was an old joke about two japanese business men playing golf..... Oh well, never mind. If the rad support is in the right location, then you may want to loosen the cab mounts some, just to get the inner fenders installed. (Or maybe the rad support can be losened up a bit). Then try tightening down the cab. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to get things back together. Good luck, Jag

I bought the radiator support mounting kit from Mid Fifty. It included rubber pads between the support and the frame that allows some play. To install my inner fenders, I had to pull the radiator support forward to get them in. It seemed to work pretty well.

Good luck - Brad

Is your cab square with the frame? If not you might think about using adjustable cab mounts as sold by mid-fifty.($219 a kit). These are adjustable side to side, and up and down.

I used them and I am very happy with them

But what do I know?

xfordman, I think Sacramento vintage ford used to sell adjustable cab suspension arms.

That might help in your alignment problem.

You might give them a try.

OK...that core support kit I bought won't work. The PO (here we go again) has changed things in the core support area. The support won't bolt to the original two holes. PO only used one bolt and it was welded to the support. The more I look at it, the front crossmember might have been moved for the Volare install. Who knows that might not be the original front x-member. Anyway the support was out of square with the cab about a quarter inch. I put a port-a-power between the motor mount and the support and squared it up enough to get the hood to fit the cowl. Now if only the fenders will fit the hood.
