Hello fellow v10'ers, I know this has been posted before but I have not found the right answers on the old post. My question is this, what mods will give me more power that I will notice and are they worth it? (no superchargers)
Duallyman,
I am curious myself. From my user name you know the vehicle I own and I have 98K on it. I recently have added a Magnaflow CATBACK system but no real noticable difference other than sound cant say it added much as far as performance but I assume that I need to go with a HIGH FLOW cat and some headers to really open up air flow. I am looking at getting the Volant COLD AIR INTAKE system soon but I am really curious what this will add performance wise, they state 12-15HP but is this true?
I am also thinking about a programmer and the Diablo Predator programmer seems to be the best out there right now as far as features go but they will not be available for a few more months for the V10 (that was as of a week ago). One concern that I have though is that I already have a detonation problem when pulling my boat so the timing advance is a no, no for me but I really like the other features it offers such as shift point changes and shift firmness changes which you configure. I can also recalibrate the speedo once I do the lift and tires (doing a 6" lift and 35's next week). They offer a great logging feature and OBDII trouble code program too.
I chose a Banks Power Pack ( stainless steel headers and 3 1/2 cat back exhaust)and a diablo custom two program chip (91 and 93 octane)with the headers taken into account.I'm satisfied.
Go with NOS system. Summit has a kit for about $450 thats good for up to 100HP. Simple mounting in the air inlet tube. Not something you would want for towing but would be fun at stop lights.
4x4x4x4 do you have any way of making some sound clips of your truck? I want a Bnaks Power Pack but want to hear one first. Exhaustsoundclips.com has some good clips but none are a V10 with Banks. Are you happy with the sound and performance of your truck after it is all said and done?
'00 250 v10 CC LB 4x4. I installed a K&N air intake and a Superchips chip, mainly for help with towing. Took it to the Rockies this summer and really noticed the difference. I don't drive it hard when I'm not pulling, so I can't give you and 1/4 mile times or anything, but when I mash it going up hill, there is a marked difference. Much more power and a pleasing grown from the intake (sounds like when we used to flip the air filter cover over on the old 4-barrels)!
Up side: Noticeable power increase above 3000RPM.
Down side: $350 + the added cost of premium fuel.
Im with the 4.2 forum but I was just wondering how much the v10's are able to tow and what is the hp amount with this and engine specifications because i know they are beyond beastly..

No way for me to make a sound clip.I'm low tech.
I like the way Banks sounds. Some don't.The V-10 will not sound like a V-8 no matter what.
The performance increase is very good but is really complimented with the addition of the chip.
The chip is a cheaper way to gain horsepower but not as much as the Banks.
I have the Banks power pack also. I am waiting for the diablo predator tuner to come out for the v10 for added power. With the banks kit, it is easier to accelerate at cruising speeds. Off the line power is about the same. The kits is pricey around $1500 for headers, Y pipe, muffler, tail pipe, and ram air intake (k&n filter with larger cold air inlet). I did take off the banks dynaflow muffler and added a Flowmaster 70 series muffler. The Banks muffler sounded to whimpy for me. To much V6 for me. The flowmaster has a much better tone to it. Like what was stated ealier the V10 will NEVER sound even remotely close to a V8. The banks has a very deep tone to it. It is not loud at all. The flowmaster did make it a touch louder than the banks muffler. One thing is the sound of the V10 with the mods is way different outside the truck than inside. When I have my girlfriend drive up and down the strret so I can listen to the sound ....it sound really good. Like nothing else on the road. Very powerful sounding. Inside the truck it resonates a bit and it sounds V6ish. I have no way to record the way it sounds.

Hope this info helps.
i basically have the same mods you mentioned but different brand names.the best mod i have put on (you didnt mention) is the accufab throttle body. monster piece with instant throttle response. between that and the tuner have been the best mods.
