i put the triple gauge set in my 78 f150 4x4 w/ 400. my oil pressure reads as follows. 60 lbs at start up, 30 lbs at warm up and driving. is this good? im used to the small block fords and was lucky to get 5-10lbs press. at warmup. also can i put the mech. temp gauge unit where the sensor is now? i believe its located behind the alternator with a wire coming out of it. thanks for any response
If you use a T for the temp gage it will not read right. Use the existing gage port for the mechanical temp gage.
Can you please elaborate on that? I don't see what would make the gauge read any differently? the water/Anti-freeze is still going to be the same temp. What is a T going to do to make the gauge read differently? We are talking about an engine temperature gauge right?
That would be the first I have heard that, The sensor for reading the temperature is on the bottom of the sending unit which is "feeling" or reading the water temperature, it is not reading the temperature of the casing that it is screwed into.
The coolant doesn't contantly go past the bulb in a "T" like it does when it is screwed directly into the water passage. Thus it will not react the same because the water pushed into the "T" is mostly stagnant and doesn't constantly move.
