I recently had a Ford factory alarm installed at the Dealership where i purchased the truck . After the alarm was installed a few dash lights went out. I had to stick to my guns to get them to repair this and they kept insisting that these items were not backlit. they were wrong. It's fixed but could the alarm be drawing power from a lead to the lights that caused this problem in the first place? Any electrical gurus out their that can explain this?
Don't know the answer but want to post about my "factory" alarm install on a then-new '99 Winstar. The F&I guy did a great sell job showing all the features and what I needed was a turnkey car so in went the order. However when I picked the van up discovered the alarm didn't turn on the inside courtesy lights and this is one of the important safety features IMO as my wife uses the vehicle at night frequently!
When I brought it back the svc. writer insisted it wasn't a feature nor a factory alarm and they could do nothing??? It clearly states on the work order factory alarm too. This is such a simple, common and basic feature I couldn't believe it. Later I did get a call back saying to bring the van in *again* but have yet to schedule this appt.
Oh yeah and the siren horn is just laying on top of the battery and that's exactly how it was delivered to us. Ford Customer Svc. hope you're reading this and know why I went with an aftermarket alarm on my new Sport Trac.
That is unreal, what are these tech's thinking? sloppy work, rushed jobs and not even a chance of whiping the dirty fingerprints off the dash after their finished. where has pride and integrity gone. Didn't happen to be at 5 star ford in SCOTTSDALE,AZ was it?
This is at a norcal dealer. (Sorry for the delay in responding I been lurking at all the Lightning spots lately )
Anyways, the remote even has a FORD LOGO embossed in it so this must be a factory alarm. I will try to bring the van in now that all the work on the sport trac is done.
ps. to their credit, FordMoCo has been trying to keep in touch by sending repeated customer satisfaction surveys and even miss you cards. I get a box of swiss chocolates every year from my watch company (hint hint ford ;P ) well, nice thought.
