2002 Explorer Amp location

I didn't want to hijack the other thread regarding amp location in his truck. I'm going to add a 4-channel amp to my system at some point and was wondering if anyone had installed one in a similar vehicle. Where will one fit? I'd like to keep it out of the cargo space so stuff isn't resting on it when I'm carrying things around.

I'm thinking the back of one of the seats may be the only option, unless someone's had luck under a seat.

Thanks in advance!

I don't own an Explorer but do the side panels in the rear come off at all to expose some empty space in there? Just an idea... I know you said you didn't want it in the cargo area but maybe it would be out of the way enough if you were able to hide it inside the plastics. Otherwise you can't go wrong with mounting it under the seat. Guess it all depends on how big the amp is too. Just my .02.

I'd be glad to hide it in the plastics if possible. The other thing is that I won't be doing the install, as it scares the heck out of me. I'll probably take it to a local shop, but I wanted to have some suggestions for them when I do. The 4-channel amps I've seen tend to be kind of bulky. I'm looking at a Kenwood right now, but that could all change. I probably won't be getting the install done for a few months.

Just be sure to tell them what you want when you go to the shop. They should have quite a few ideas for you (since they do this for a living). Good luck.
