I have a 98 Explorer w/ 4.0 SOHC and recently my A/C does not blow cold air any more. I check the lower pressure port and it reads around 35-40 psi. I notice that the compressor clutch is engaged all the time. It will not engage if I pull the connector for the lower pressure switch off and will engaged if I jump it. What could be the problem? Any helps are appreciated.
Paul.
move temp.control from cold to warm, does the air get hot? if so blend door is ok. if air temp does not change the blend door is broke or stuck(pencil stuck in it)either way requires housing removal(no fun)
no problem with blend door. now what is wrong? you said the lo side was 35-40 psi. but we need to know the hi side pressure too. you stated the comp. runs all the time?
may just be low on R-134
check that Paul,hi side should be around 140-225, depending on outside air temp. also is the suction line (large line) cold to the comp. it should be. good luck
