i have a 90 BII auto 4x4 and i bought it a year and a half ago and when i bought it they told me take it back in and they would give me some freon so i did and they did it for free, but that summer it was gone by july, and it's starting to get a little warmer here, and i dealt with ti last year, but i want to get it recharged with freon but if there's a leak i want it fixed.. how would i go about fixing the leak and what part would be leaking the freon? and also how much does it cost to get it converted to the new stuff instead of the stuff that's $50 a pound? im sure plenty of people has done this, i was just wondering what the costs actually were thanks
The common place for leaks is at the spring lock clips in-line, look for dirty areas, the oil that leaks out attracks dirt. Pulling a vacuum will tell if the system is tight. The parts store sell kits for converting it to 134A. A good manual should help with all of this work. A new dryer is a good idea if the system has been open.
ok so what is the dryer, and if there is a leak could i be able to do it, because all the shops around here are majorly expensive, thanks again ken ure awesome

What does it mean when you say, the system has been open?
they sell the fluid(gas) with a dye in it so you can detect the leak also comes with sealer, thats what I did,put the sealer in first (with the dye in it) saw the leaks were sealed and charged it up...works great and it was sitting for about five years unused
The dryer is a container about 3-4" in diameter with a rounded top & bottom, follow the AC lines and you'll find it. If your handy with a wrench, have the right tools and have a good manual you should be OK.
