Glow Plug Control Module
The check engine light is on in my 2000 Excursion PSD. I had the code read by the local parts store. It came up as a problem with the Glow PLug Control Module. Its about at $120 part. Is this something I can replace myself? Where is it located?

The only piece you have that controls your glow plugs is the glow plug relay. Though this part is quite expensive at Ford, NAPA carries a glow plug relay for our trucks for about $20-25. The part number is GPR-109. If you remove the plastic engine cover on top of the engine, you'll see the gpr sitting off to your left, on the passenger's side. It has two large terminals, and two small ones. You can't screw up installing the new one. The small wires go to small terminals, and the large wires go to large terminals. Don't worry about which small wire goes to which small terminal, it doesn't matter.

Probably not. Your truck might have a module and a relay. Mine only has the relay. The $77 relay would be replaced with the one from NAPA. They might also carry a replacement for the module, too, but I haven't checked.
