I have a 95 Explorer Sport with 98,000 miles. For the last 6+ months the Check engine light has been going off and on. When I hook up a Code Scanner to it I get the code 335, "Pressure Feedback EGR (PFE) sensor or EGR Pressure Transducer (EPT) - signal voltage higher or lower then expected (Key on engine Off Self-Test)."
I have read several EGR problems that point to the DPFE sensor, but the 95 model has a PFE, not the DPFE. The only small problem seems to be that it shift into gear, very hard. Anyone have any clue what could be wrong. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I have a code scanner, from Sears by Actron, model # CP9015. And this book says, the EEC-IV code for 335 is "Pressure Feedback EGR (PFE) sensor or EGR Pressure Transducer (EPT) - signal voltage higher or lower thean expected (Key On engine Off Self-Test)."
I had the same code on my 1995 explorer along with codes 326 and 332. But the 335 is the EGR Pressure switch. I went to the Ford dealership and bought a new one for $72 dollars. Autozone had one too for the same price but they had to order it and it was going to take 2 days so if it is the same price get if from the Ford dealership. It is the silver metal piece with an electrical connection and 2 vacuum hoses on the driver side attached to the intake. Been 2 days now and no more codes and no Check Engine light. Good Luck.
Forgot to mention, this does not affect shifting into gear. This just controls the amount of Exhaust gases recirculated into your intake. For hard shifting have you checked your trans fluid levels and ujoints.
