fuel pump power bypass

I was wondering if it would hurt anything to put in a switch to controll when the fuel pumps come on. on my 88 f150 none of the 3 pumps will kick in so i figured i could just put in a toggle switch or something of the like. any help will be appreciated.
thanks, chrono

you could but it would be a good idea to hook it up to the ignition switch if you do. just i case you forget and leave it on.

just make sure you don't wire it up with a guage of wire too small for the current.

Question fuel pumps

If there are 3 pumps on a 88 150,does a 87 F250 with two tanks also have two pumps.

Before you go re-wiring,

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse, relay, and the cutoff switch under the dash?

also, even though there are three pumps, you do know that only two run at a time right? (Depending on which tank you want to use)

yea i checked it all. and i already did it and it works great. i just tapped into the supply for the pumps originally and ran it to a switch on the dash so i can have it on normaly and when im just sitting there with the key doing whatever i can turn them.

same issue with my pumps I've been wanting to do this forever PLEASE explain your wiring. So which wires from front tank pump need hooked too power and grounded through the switch, and then did you wire up the high pressure pump too a switch as well?
