Sorry guy's, I'm sure this has probably been beaten to death, but...
Is there any way to shift an ESOF t-case to neutral? If so how?
My buddy just blew the tranny in his 01' PSD and even with the trans in neutral, the driveline is bound up. Short of pulling the rear driveshaft, it's going to be a chore getting this thing off the trailer. We'd consult his owners manual, but he doesn't have one.
I don't know the answer, but I know that the Technical Resources section of www.motorcraft.com offers free downloadable Adobe .pdf versions of owner's guides for most late model Ford cars and trucks.
There's no way to get to t-case neutral with ESOF, probably its single biggest drawback vs. the manual shift t-case.
Hmmm, that's what I was afraid of.

No, it's not in 4wd. The tranny is so far gone that with the transmission in neutral it takes three come-alongs to make it roll. Reverse, 1st, 3rd, and 4th all went out at once. 2nd kinda works, but not really. This is with 80K miles. Yes, it tows some fairly good sized trailers pretty regularly.
The bad part is he was 300 miles away from here heading to a family reunion. Another buddy ran over with an 18 ft. bobcat trailer to haul the truck home this morning.
You might be able to pull the shift motor off and find neutral by playing with the shaft it turns... But, by the time you did that, you could just unhook the driveshaft at the rear diff and tie it up out of the way...
