I have a 5000KW Devilbiss to keep the lights, freezer, fridg and computers on when the power goes out 5-6 times a year from 1 to 7 days. It is all USA Brigs and the generator is USA made! It has saved our tails several times in the last 5 years.

If they only cost $600, I'd have bought two. I have a line run out to my garage so I can run it out there in inclement weather. I still have to hook it up though. I also had a nice hookup at my old house. I want it in or arund my garage so my neighbor can't get to it.

thats a 20 cyl engine, it must be a pretty big store considering the warehouse i worked at had 2 4.9L I-6 Ford engines to run their coolers and freezers, that blue bucket to the right lower part is a 55 gal drum if you look at the engine that would mean that the drum is smaller than the pistons in that thing

I have a 7550 Generac portalble thought I bought for $900. A little noisy but oh well. Bought it because we were getting stationed in Guam. We are in typhoon season right now.

When I retire, I want to get a nice big 25K unit, a Cummins/Onan diesel genset. I would love to have one of those.

It is a True saying.

I own 2 Honda's. A 2000 Watt and a 3000 Watt.

I live on the east coast of Florida, went out on Friday and filled up my 4, 5gal gas cans just in case the hurricane came this way, Luckily we did not need it.
I agree with you on this Honda make the finest generator. I had many different kinds and have had a honda 1000EQ for 10+years and it has never ever not run. Has oil shutdown which is essential for running an generator. It not the most powerfull beast but it will run lights and the fridge, tv etc.. and you can't hear it run. oh sooooooo quiet. Have it hooked up to a 10 gallon gas tank for extended run time.

I have (or had) a little 600w Honda, lent it to my bro-in-law about 6 years ago and haven't seen it since. Asked him about it the other day, he said it's around somewhere, he'll have to look for it. Luckily, the electricity around here is pretty dependable (About the only thing that is) but if the volcano ever goes, electricity will be the least of our problems! -TD

Got a 6000 watt jobber up at the cabin since that is the only source of power. Went with a PowerMate.

Figured it replaced the old PowerMate that was at the cabin, and that saw 20 years of running every other weekend for 10 hours a day.

Hope to get the same thing out of this one.

I live in a rural area, and have had one for years. Mine is a 15,000 watt propane-fired unit.... If my power fails, I have a battery bank in a shed outside that powers a Trace invertor. This is set up to another breaker-box so my power switches over to the batteries in a blink of the eye. It powers every thing in my home except for 220V appliances. (I heat my home with a 120V wood pellet stove in the winter)

The battery bank lasts for close to 3 days.. then a signal is sent to start my generator, which runs the house power until the battery bank is charged again, then shuts off The generator also starts it's self once a week for 15 minutes..

The last time the power was out here for 3 days, cars were always slowing down at night past my well lit home...

Sounds like you have a nice set up going on with the battery banks. I installed a forced air corn furnace last year and love it.

I have a 5250 watt B&S i bough the day Hurricane Isabelle came through. I wasn't going to buy one but my wife talked me into it. Glad for once I listened to her. Power was out for 4 days. Run fridge lights etc. and the neighbors fridge. Best thing about it is after a bunch of paper work and phone calls FEMA reimbursed me for the full amount $600 so I got a free generator.
