Yes, its a very good gain on Escapes, Rangers and Explorers. The company Ranger users a Diablo chip and I wouldn't run it without either a Diablo chip or Superchips Custom chip.
I follow some online instruction to find that code for the chip to use for my 05 Escape. The computer thing is in a metal box, I found the code on the metal box. In order to install a chip, i have to open the metal box. After I unscrew the screws, still couldn't open the box because there are some black glue thing around it. Does anyone know how to unglue it ? There isn't enough gap for me to pry it open.
It isn't required to take the top off, but it makes cleaning the connector a lot easier. Here's a tip:
Leave the top on. Instead of using the scrub pad to clean the connector get some acetone or fingernail polish remover. Wipe the connector with a cloth and the acetone/remover until it has cleaned the coating completely off. Then, with a fresh cloth, use more acetone to wipe off any residue left behind. Let it dry and then install the chip.
