What is everyones suggestion for a good set of plug wires? I had the hood up the other day when it started to get dark out and I noticed quite a bit of spark jump from the wires that are on there Napa 7mm, which I'm sure is not helping performance at all, anyhow I was thinking of some accels which I have run on a 302 before.
I have a 390 in my 65 F-100 with headers and just bought Autozones double silicone 8mm plug wires, they were only around 24.00 and are guarenteed for life. They work great and are superior to the 49.99 Accel wires the guy tried to show me that are double the price and have no warranty. I hope this helps you out.

I agree with speederx. I just buy over the counter wires for an '85 460. These get me the length I need for my 390 with the correct ends for the big distributor cap conversion.
Do you have the conventional old style cap? If so, I don't think you can run the 8 or 9mm wires. You will need to upgrade to the larger cap. The 7mm wires are great for stock use but succumb to crossover or crosstalk very easily. I just upgraded my distributor to the larger cap and 9mm wires. You can get the cap, base and rotor for about $30-40 bucks and get the universal wires from $49 and up. I used the Ford Racing cap and wires and cut my wires to fit. You can get the spark plug crimping tool from Summit for $13.00 and they work great!
Over the counter Napa/Echlin, or Autolite wires, are both great sets of wires, and are very competively priced. For the older style cap, the Autolites are
7.5mm, and have a little thicker silicone cover on them.
If you really want to go all out with overkill, get a set of MSD wires, but they will set you back around 70.00 or so..
You could also buy some Packard wire and ends. Make up your own by soldering the ends to the wire as Packard wire is real wire not carbon\fiberglass. When you route the wires try to run them at sharp angles not inline to prevent cross fire. With Packard wire it can raise cain with FM and computers due to static so be prepared. That is what your grandpa ran Jon.
