Can anybody tell me what the stock ride height for a 77 F-100 should be, like maybe the height of the front spring compressed on the truck. I think mine are way whooped.
My 77 F100 isn't near by to measure, but as a general rule, if the front tires are pretty much straight up and down, it should be pretty close. If they are leaned in at the top, then the springs are sagging.
Ok I'll ask this a different way, I can just lean on it and they will compress about 1/2 of their travel which is about 4" before the I beam hits the rubber bumber which seems to have taken a beating since half of it is gone. I think I should be able to really push on it, maybe hop on the bumper to get it to move.
Well, weak shocks will cause that. The springs help hold up the truck, but the shocks will let it travel way too easy if they are bad. Are the tires cupped? If so, I would get a good set of gas shocks. I like Gabriel Gas Ryder LT's myself.
Well the shocks are wasted I know that for sure, I began changing them one day 2 years ago but got stuck because they have to be cut off, I don't drive the truck much thats how I have lived with it this long. Still to me the front sags as compared to the back, it's got a stink bug stance Grrrrrrrrr.
