Driver's Side Auto Door Lock Problems!
1992 4.0L V6 A4LD Eddie Bauer Extended
I bought this van in October 2000 with 64k on it. After about a year from purchase I noticed that the driver's side door lock (automatic) would only work (both lock/unlock) if the driver's door was between shut and opened a maximum of approx. 24 inches.
Skip to 2003! Now the automatic door lock on the driver's side doesn't work at all! I can only lock all the doors from the passenger side and with 3 young kids this situation is TOTALLY unacceptable!
Please Help! Tell me what to check (hubby is a complete electrical/techie nerd in all aspects of the field!). We have all kinds of meters and what have you. I guess I need to know if this is a bad actuator or some wierd kink/short as the door is opened and/or closed.
Anyone else have this problem? Tell me what to check out as we plan on keeping this van and eventually handing it down to our son (currently 10 years old ~ but as excited as can be about eventually inheriting the aerostargal!).
