I am trying to replace a custom bed to an original bed for my 70 f350, and for the longest time i have been looking at all the f series truck beds from 68-72 thinking that a long bed will fit my truck.
A person more knowledgeble than me told me that long bed 100s, 150s, and 250s are wb 131". This made me think a sec, wait, my truck is 135" wb.
The question is, would an 8' truckbed from any of the previus f-series trucks fit my f350?
And if it does not, where in the heck can i find a bed for it?
Hoping that im wrong and wb does NOT matter for a longbed...
sincerely, TJDREAMS
Your truck was meant for a 9 foot box. If you put an eight foot box on a frame meant for a nine foot box, you'll either have a gap between the cab, or some frame sticking out the back. I rather doubt the mounting locations are the same between an eight foot box and a niner.
Where to find a nine foot box for your '70 F350 with the 135" wheelbase? If you can't find anything here: www.autokrafters.com and www.macsautoparts.com , you might try posting a want ad in the classifieds on this site. If that doesn't work, I suggest you start hitting the salvage yards. Don't just look at one or two and give up. Nine foot boxes are probably pretty rare and you may have to look a long time to find a good one. In addition, the more people that know your looking for one, the more eyes you have looking for you. I'll keep my eyes open for you. Good luck!
