What can I use off of a 79 F150

Hi. I have a 68 F100, with a 6cylinder and auto tranny. It has manual steering and manual brakes.

I have a chance to buy a 79 F150 with a 351 and auto tranny. It has power disc brakes, power steering, and a/c. It has been sitting for a couple years. I was told that I can have the truck for $300.

I'm curious mostly about the power disc brakes, the power steering, the engine and the tranny. Would these parts work ok on my 68 F100?

thanks for the help...

You should be able to use just about all of it.
Convert your truck to power steering, power disc brakes, automatic transmission. then pull the little 6 banger and drop in a great running, torqey 351w on top of everything else. Wait Sounds like my truck lol
You would have the perfect doner truck to use in upgrading your truck.
If the 79 has tilt steering wheel all the better

69Mach. Buy the truck. Every thing on the frame from the cab forward is identical from 65 to 79. The disc brakes, power steering, and engine are direct bolt ins. If that donor is actualy a 351 in a 79, I'll bet it's a 351 m. Count up the intake manifold bolts and let us know. If the engine is a 351 m, then the tranny will be a c6. My truck is actualy a 73 F100, but it came from the factory with no options, a 6 cylender and 3 speed. It already has a 460, c6, power steering, tilting collum, and intermitant wipers. I have a friend with a 65, and one with a 67. Both of them are using 78 and 79 model trucks for parts. Here are a couple of things to check for...from the off position turn the wind shield wiper switch to the left, if it turns to the left it has intermitant wipers. Try to push the turn signal switch to the dash board. If it goes forward, and the steering wheel goes up and down then it has a tilting collum. You may have a problem retro fitting the a/c to fit your dash, but there is a ton of other stuff that will make the truck worth while. Check out Ebay. If it has a tilting collum....that alone will make it worth the 300.

I have made all the swaps that you are thinking about. If you get the truck, don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may have.

Real good catch on the 351m. I did'nt catch it and should have. it is more than likely a 351M unless it was changed out.
I agree on everything else also.
I have a 71F100 that I have done all the above upgrades to except AC. it is in the future plans also
