Going to change my fuel filter on 2000 F250 P/S 7.3 do I have to bleed off the presure before I take the cap off? Any thing you can tell me about doing it will help. Also do you use a special wrench to unscrew it? Thanks for the help

There is a yellow handled drain valve on the back side of the filter bowl. It opens 1/4 turn clockwise when looking at it from above. I use an open pair of slip joint pliers (channel-locks) to unscrew the cap, but I've heard you can also use an oil fliter wrench on it
no you do not have to bleed off pressure, i open the water drain valve first for a few seconds(just make sure the engine is off ) you do not need any tools at all you should be able to unscrew it by hand. sometime the o-ring on the old filter will come off and be sitting in the bowl make sure it is not left in there.
After you take off the protective cover (two nuts), unscrew the lid of the filter compartment. It's also handy to have a bowl nearby to put your old filter in without dripping allover. You'll have either the filter attached to the lid or the lid separate from the filter. If you have the separate lid, make sure you keep it if you replace it with an attached unit; some vendors don't sell the filter by itself.
Take the filter out. I drained the reservoir completely to ensure water is gone too. Put the new filter in. Close the lid, I did mine handtight with no problems ever. Turn the key without starting several times to let the fuel flow back into the filter reservoir. Then it should start just fine. Check for leaking lid just in case...
Hope this helps,

I have a 99 psd to get the cap off use your four wheel drives socket for taking the hubs off you can get them at auto zone it is a socket with four prongs sticking out about 1/4 inch and the diameter of socket is like 2" it will fit into the ridges on top of the cap and you just spin off. Tried strap wrenches and pliers but it was to tight and slipping this socket is very easy and doesnt screw anything up it is a perfect match
