find where accelerator cable attaches to throttlle body. it is on the other side of throttlle body from there. it's flat, usually black, write down the numbers on it and go to napa or ford to get a new one.
Easiest way to swap it out is to pull the throttle body because it's on the bottom right above a heater hose. Not such a bad thing you can clean the t/b and replace the gasket while your at it! Make sure the port on the t/b where any sensors go are perfectly clean. Pretty much any t/bcarb cleaner and an air chuck will do the trick.
Yeah but if it's never been changed you can kiss that gasket goodbye. You might as well avoid the leak and doing it twice and play it safe. If it's never been pulled than chances are it's never been thouroughlyl cleaned either.
Off topic, mostly..................
I had a thermostat freeze on a hot summer day, far from home. Took out the stat......
Cut a gasket from a manila folder.......worked great. It was a very worn cavelier.....ran the whole summer like that, never leaked.
Sorry, the paper gasket thing reminded me.......thought i might pass it along for use in a pinch.
I was just talking about replacing the t/b gasket just to be on the safe side. For a gasket, it's well worth the extra 10 minutes it will take and if the t/b has never been fully cleaned there will be a noticeable difference in the way the truck runs. May not be necessary talyn but it's definately recommended!
Hey thanks everyone. No I never had the TB apart or cleaned. I got the TPS, but it sounds like I better have a new gasket on hand also.
I'm having problems with erratic/hard shifting and the engine surging/stalling, and this is my latest shot in the dark to get it fixed!
